Part Six: Tamarindo Nightlife
In part one of this ten-part series, we discussed the different zip lining tour companies and packages available in Tamarindo. In part two, we explored some of the many restaurants and dining experiences found throughout Tamarindo. In part three we discussed the surfing scene of Tamarindo and the abundant surf breaks suitable for surfers of all skill levels. In part four, we discussed deep sea and sport fishing opportunities in Tamarindo. In part five, we explored the different golf courses found in the Tamarindo area. In part six, we will look at the nightlife scene that’s happening in Tamarindo.
With surfers, backpackers, deep-sea fishermen, golfers, and a whole host of other international travelers, not to mention local Costa Ricans themselves, Tamarindo has an eclectic and thriving nightlife. Each night of the week a different bar or restaurant seems to be the “it” spot, with live music, DJ’s and different themed events. If you’re looking for something do on any given night of the week, simply ask around to see where the crowds will be flocking on that particular night.
Casino Cups Part 64
One of the newer and more popular locations to spend the evening enjoying some drinks and listening to some tunes is Le Beach Club. With hammocks and beds right on the beach, Le Beach Club is a great place to watch the sunset while sipping a cocktail, and on Saturday nights they have a DJ providing live entertainment. On Friday nights, head over to The Monkey Bar, a two-story dance club, located within the Best Western. The Monkey Bar has great sunset views over the ocean and an open-air patio with a live band on Friday nights. The Yucca Bar at the Hotel Pasatiempo features an open-mic jam session for local bands every Tuesday night if you’re looking to hear some Tamarindo talent.
For visitors looking to dance the entire night away, head over to Aqua Disco, the only true nightclub in Tamarindo, with a $4 cover-charge, Ladies’ Night on Mondays, and an open bar for 2 hours on Saturday night. Concerts are occasionally held at the Tamarindo Beach Club and Resort in the amphitheater, which seats 250 people. Whether you’re looking to enjoy a drink while watching the sunset, listen to local bands and artists, or party the night away with travelers from all over the world, Tamarindo has plenty of options for a great night out. From quiet, intimate settings, to all-night dance parties, you’re sure to find a spot that suits your vibe any night of the week.
If you’re looking for a little different style of entertainment, stop by the Hotel Tamarindo Diria Beach Resort and check out the action at their new casino. Play one of over 40 slot machines, or try your luck at the tables in a game of blackjack or 5 card stud poker. The casino is open nightly from 5 pm to 1 am and accepts US dollars and Costa Rican colones. Another interesting spot to pass some time on an evening in Tamarindo is at the Tamarindo Beach Cigar Lounge and Factory. Sit back and relax in a leather chair and sample some of Costa Rica’s finest tobacco while enjoying a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. The Tamarindo Beach Cigar Lounge and Factory has one of the most extensive wine lists in Tamarindo so you’re sure to meet both cigar and wine aficionados at this charming little spot.
Whether you’re looking for sunset music sessions with a tropical drink in hand, a multi-story discotheque where you can dance the night away, or if you’re looking for something a bit more refined, you’ll find it in Tamarindo. With one of the most thriving nightlife scenes in the Northern Pacific of Costa Rica, Tamarindo draws crowds from all over the world, making for an always interesting night on the town. City dwellers from San Jose often pop over for the weekend to experience the nightlife scene in Tamarindo. So throw on your party pants and break in your dancing shoes, if you’re going to Tamarindo, make sure you’re ready for a night out on the town!
